Founded in Philadelphia in 1929, James Peter Mento created and invented new products and formulas to meet the skin and scalp needs of America’s population. The initial formula ‘Mentos Beard Softner’ was created to be used by barbers for a two-step process. The beard was softened by Mentos and a hot-towel. Once softened, foam would be applied to the customer’s face and then shaved. Other skin products were also developed by Mentos that aid with certain dry skin conditions both of the body and scalp. In the 1970’s , Mentos combined it’s research of the various product lines and Moisturizing Conditioner. Using these products will allow the shaver to train their hair. Over the years, Mentos has been well known for “training hair” to grow in a way that discourages ingrown hairs. For four generations, Mentos has created shaving products to meet the needs of the shaving community by staying on the cutting edge of cosmetic chemistry.
